Fill the Hill
When fall rolls in, October officially changes to “Flocktober” at the University of Wisconsin! Join in on the tradition by watching Bascom Hill get flocked with pink lawn flamingos from October 5th at 5PM to October 6th at PM (with a special celebration on October 6th from 10AM to 2PM!), sharing the word on social media, or giving a monetary donation to the university. Learn more about the event by visiting their website!
Schuster's Farm
Schuster's Farm in Deerfield has everything you need to get the full fall season experience. With 8 acres of corn mazes, over 14 acres of pumpkins, apple cider donuts, plenty of barnyard activities, and even a Haunted Forest (not for the easily startled!), it’s the quintessential fall harvest location. Plus, the farm doesn’t close when the sun goes down - Schuster’s Farm offers “After Dark Fun” with their Flashlight Maze, food and drink options, bonfires, and live music. Check out their schedule of events here!
Kalscheuer's Pumpkin Patch
Head to Middleton to spend the day at Kalscheuer's Pumpkin Patch, where you can take your pick of almost any type of pumpkin you can imagine, along with other seasonal fall delights like squash, gourds, and corn. And that’s not all! The pumpkin patch doubles as a farm with animals like piglets, pigs, goats, kittens, cats, cows and calves. Kalscheuer's is your go-to destination for seasonal photos for you or your loved ones. It’s a spot not to be missed! Visit their website for more information.
Eugster's Farm Market
Pumpkins, apples, festivals, animals, and more all await you at Eugster's Farm Market. For over 40 years, Eugster's Farm Market has shared their mission of connecting the community with agriculture, creating wonderful memories for all who visit. This fall, make sure you secure your spot at their Fall Festival, where attendees enjoy petting farms, wagon rides, a corn maze, a 3D haunted house, and more. Get your tickets and learn more about the history of Eugster’s Farm Market by heading to their website.
Fall Village Market
Get your “shop on” this fall at the Fall Village Market! Located in Mount Horeb's historic downtown, you’ll be able to peruse handmade, vintage, and upcycled goods from local vendors, all accompanied by live music and food trucks. You’re sure to have a blast and score on your next favorite purchase! Mark your calendars and learn more on their website.
University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum
The UW Arboretum is the hub for ecological and environmental shifts in the season. With workshops, walks, and events, you’re able to experience the changing color of the leaves, learn about our local ecology, and get involved in nature through journaling, restoration activities, and more. Most of their events are free to attend, and there are even volunteer opportunities to explore. Learn more here!
Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Square
Here in Madison, we know our produce and local vendors are the best of the best - and their offerings aren’t just for the summer season! The Dane County Farmers’ Market runs on Wednesdays through November 1st and on Saturdays through November 11th. They’re proudly the country’s largest producer-only farmers' market, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have them in our community. Learn more about the market here!
This time of year is also a great time to get out on your bike and soak in the fall colors. Take a peek at why Madison has been named the "Bike Capital of the Midwest" on our blog!
